How to create an effective website

Many a time I have opened an internet site without being able to progress any further or, worse, spent my time going around in circles without getting what I wanted. While there may be a site that is in existence, if the information is not easily accessible, it would, on the contrary, just drive away people, thereby defeating its very purpose.

There are some basic steps that help in making the website a success. Any visitor wants to be able to navigate easily through the website. It should be simple and intuitive to use. A user should not wonder where he or she will end up when they click on a tab.

A visitor must get the feeling that they are in the right place and that they will get the required information. To do this, you must anticipate the reasons they visit the site and then provide that information. The website must meet the expectations of the visitor. The other day, I was looking for Diesel Guildford and the site took me to a catering business site!

Once you have the website up and running, make occasional checks to see that the links work. A dead link or one that leads to old or irrelevant information can be very irritating. If you add new content, make sure it is short and concise. Aldo make sure there are no spelling errors. If the information you provide is considerable, make sure there is a way out for people to come out easily without getting lost and having to struggle. Also make sure that all the images are in the place you want them to be in, and are not broken.

These simple checks will ensure that your website does the job it was created for.
