SEO can change your life for the better
If you have recently been made redundant or have just graduated from University, you are most likely finding life tougher then normal. Jobs are at a premium these days. Employers can afford to be choosier then ever. They are content in the knowledge that for every unsatisfied employee wanting to leave, there are on average 20 suitable candidates willing and eager to take their place. The key to getting noticed, is knowing how to stand out from the crowd and that is where having your own website can pay dividends.

Earlier this year a friend of mine was made redundant. In the same week that he lost his job, he split up with his long term girlfriend. By the end of the week he was also served notice by his landlord who had decided to sell the house he was living in. By the following Monday morning my friend had called me up and was close to tears over what to do. Six months later he has managed to start his own business and whilst it’s not earning him millions, it is turning over enough for him to live on. He did this by first of all sitting down to have a long hard think about what he wanted from life and writing it all down as a list. At the top was a dream he had been thinking about on and off for quite some time. That dream is the business he set up online and similar ideas are no longer far fetched possibilities as a recent article published by The Guardian shows.
Knowing what it is you want to be known and recognised for becomes key to successful web optimisation. A good example of a well optimised site can be found at http://www.abroadband.com/comparison which demonstrates how your content must be original, relevant and trusted. Abroadband identified what it wanted to offer its customers and the website states clearly how it intends to provide that service. Its design is bright and the site easy to navigate. The pages are clearly marked and do not take an age to get to. Overall it is a well designed site that will help with its ranking on the search engines.

Once you’re happy with the look and layout the hard work begins. It’s all very well having a beautifully designed site, but if you have no visitor traffic then it’s worthless. This is when keyword search terms come into play. For example my friend wanted to find and sell books online. Therefore he wanted to be found on Google when people typed in buy old books'or sell old books’. These keywords were included in his URL and meta-title enabling Google to look at the site and determine that it was relevant for these terms.
If you’re having trouble finding a job at the moment then the best thing to do is to make one up for yourself. By effectively optimising your website, you could soon be a lot better off then you are now.
